A human approach to counselling for youth, adults and families.

Individual Counselling

 Do you need help?

Have conflicts in your personal and professional life been keeping you up at night? Have you noticed certain things about your behaviour that you simply can’t understand? Do you often say “this is just not me or who I want to be”? Whatever you’re feeling, or whatever is watering you down can be understood and resolved with effective individual therapy sessions. Individual therapy is designed to solve internal conflicts, so you can make positive changes in your life and embrace daily life challenges with hope.

Most people don’t ask for help or speak up in front of people because therapy is often stigmatized. This bottles up stress, and if left unchecked, these bottled feelings can even cause harm to your physical and mental wellbeing.

My approach to individual counselling

Individual counselling can help you overcome obstacles to your mental wellbeing. The sessions will help you channel emotions through positive feelings, such as compassion. Through individual counselling sessions, I will help my you develop coping skills that help you in handling difficult situations, achieving your goals and making decisions about your own mental wellbeing. All of my techniques are derived from evidence-based therapies and consist of a combination of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy.

As your therapist, I believe in individualized counselling – a session that is as unique as you. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to human behaviour, and that’s the reason I compose a tailored therapy plan for each of my clients. I adopt a structured approach to therapy that allows me to layout the problem elements in your life, identify the source of difficulties and finally craft a plan that works for you and your goals. I will make you realize that you are worth much more than you think of yourself.

If you are ready to talk about your feeling, then you can book an individual counselling session by sending me an email. If you’re still not sure about an individual session, then you can call me and take a free 15-20 minute consultation to discuss your therapy needs in greater depths. This will help you see if we can be a good fit for each other.

Background information about individual counselling

Individual counselling is one-on-one counselling between a client and a trained therapist in a safe and confidential environment. Here, you’re free to express your thoughts. I will listen carefully and offer support and strategies to improve your mental wellbeing.

The common goal of this therapy is to inspire change or enhance your quality of life. This type of counselling helps you to self-reflect on your actions, and with the feedback, you will be able to understand and see more deeply into your behaviour patterns.

What’s the ideal time to seek individual counselling?

When you feel that your emotional difficulties are highly impacting your daily living activities, and you cannot think of a way to manage your stress, then it is time to seek help. Most commonly, people who struggle to manage depression or anxiety need support to facilitate change. Seeing a therapist allows you to face your challenges head-on, reprocess difficult experiences safely and differently and unlock a new perspective towards life. Change is often difficult at first and leaves you vulnerable. However, my clients experience that when they try the strategies we use in sessions, they feel lighter and better moving forward.
